While most of us have been pushing our travel plans aside throughout the year, the Covid-19 pandemic hasn’t really deterred luxury hospitality groups around the world from launching their most anticipated new properties to get people excited about travel again.

    From a secluded island retreat in the Maldives to a sophisticated urban sanctuary in New York, we’ve curated a list of new wellness hotel openings in 2020/2021 around the world to inspire your post-pandemic adventures. Whether you’re looking to improve wellbeing or simply want to treat yourself to some well-deserved pampering, these luxury wellness retreats will surely leave you feeling fulfilled and rejuvenated.

    Nestled in the artfully restored Crown Building at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th street, this property from the acclaimed luxury hotel and resort group Aman promises to be a peaceful oasis where one can feast on sweeping views of the area’s iconic skyline, refined delicacies, and top-notch wellness treatments.

    Renowned architect Jean-Michel Denniston is the brains behind Aman New York, who’s dedicated to paying homage to the Crown Building’s striking architectural details and New York’s vibrant culture. The 26-storey property will feature 83 tastefully furnished guest rooms and suites, four stellar dining and drinking options, and a 2,300 square metres Spa which comes complete with a 20-metre swimming pool and two spa houses, where guests can enjoy a comprehensive array of wellness treatments and facilities. Aman New York is set to open in spring 2021.

    2/8 RAKxa Wellness & Medical Retreat, Bangkok

    Hit the reset button at RAKxa, Thailand’s first fully-integrated wellness and medical retreat situated on Bangkok’s preserved “Green Lung” island—an emerald haven located along the Chao Phraya River.

    Having just opened its doors on December 1, the retreat is most notable for its extensive range of bespoke wellness programmes designed by world-class medical doctors and traditional healing experts, which are paired with renowned Thai hospitality to offer guests a truly transformative experience.

    A brand new wellness destination operated by award-winning luxury health resort Chiva-Som, Zulal Wellness Resort is not only expected to be the Middle East’s first full-immersion wellness resort and Qatar’s largest wellness destination, but also the very first centre for Traditional Arabic Islamic Medicine (TAIM) worldwide.

    Named after the Arabic word for purified water, “Zulal”, the resort is inspired by the locals’ historic trek to the sea in search of water and shelter, which will be tucked into Khasooma, a private coastal location in the north of Qatar, offering guests a taste of Qatari culture through exquisite architectural details, high standards of hospitality and unique healing therapies.

    As well as featuring an extensive range of excellent spa and fitness facilities, the resort will offer spiritual sessions for guests to learn how to manage stress and stay in good spirits when you head home.     Another luxury wellness hotel that deserves a spot on your travel radar, Rosewood’s first South American property is set to be an urban oasis located in the culturally rich city of Sãu Paulo, a complex of elegantly preserved buildings from the early 20th century.

     

    Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, interior designer Philippe Starck, and Brazilian artists Vik Muniz and Saint-Clair Cemin, Rosewood Sãu Paulo will feature 151 guestrooms and 122 owners suites, along with six restaurants and bars, as well as Asaya—the hotel group’s integrative wellness concept. Guests will also find two lavish swimming pools, a fitness suite, and a large spa with six treatment rooms offering holistic wellness services and treatments at the hotel. We can’t wait to see what else this 2021 opening unveils.
